Bullying is a widespread issue in schools around the world that predominantly affects adolescents. The story “Eleven” incorporates the negative aspects of bullying. The scene in the story when the students tell Mrs. Price that the ugly sweater is Rachel’s, is a form of bullying because they were implying that Rachel was ugly and wore ugly clothes. She came from a poor family so this affected her greatly. Bullying lowers people’s self esteem, creates anxiety, and even plays a role in academic failure.
