MacDonald makes a lot of good points about how the politicization of criminal justice can hurt the entire field. I do not agree that racial profiling does not exist, but I do agree that political witch hunts and fishing expeditions are likely to punish good officers and limit their ability to do their jobs, while failing to ensure that minorities are treated equally. An unfortunate but valid point that she offers is that the disproportionate amount of minorities involved in incarceration does not indicate racial profiling, but just that more minorities are committing crimes (Macdonald, 2001). Latino Racial Profiling As coming from a Hispanic heritage, I’ve experienced being called “A Mexican who crossed the border”. America is the land of opportunities and freedom. Freedom that should be shared by all, not just whites, “Latinos are affected the same way that African-Americans are” (Alba-Panama)”. Racial Profiling can be useful sometimes and sometimes it can hurt other people’s feelings. It can be useful to the police because it can give the police an idea of who or what kind of person committed a crime. You can’t always rely on racial profiling to help find the criminal. There is no guarantee that you will find the criminal by using racial profiling. It can hurt other people because you are judging the person by their looks and actions.
This article brought many points into light that many other articles were too sacred to bring up or simply did not want to bring up because the evidence went against their claim. This article talked about how racial profiling is often times misunderstood. To argue his point, he talks about how crime is never evenly distributed in cities and many times the places where there is the most crime is a part of town that lives in poverty. Often times this also means these parts of town are highly diverse. Policemen then, doing their job, watch these parts of town because of the high crime.
The use of racial profiling has caused major issues and has had a huge impact among our nation. This has influenced a lot of hate and killing towards different type of race, religion, etc. groups. Law enforcement has become ineffective due to racial profiling. Statistics have shown some situations of racial profiling.
We all have freedom and to pick out by the color of our skin, make us forget that we have our freedom. To have freedom we should be able to do anything that we have the right, despite the color of someone’s skin. Everyone should be equal and be given their freedom. Racial profiling is the prejudicial practice by law enforcement of singling out individuals for suspicion of a crime based on the persons ethnicity, religion, or origin. Many cases over racial profiling have ended with the police accused of the act being acquitted for their crimes. An officer from Maryland received no punishment for releasing a police dog on multiple unarmed Mexican immigrants ( ACLU, 2017). This has been a problem in the United States for centuries. During the 19th and early 20th centuries southern Sheriffs sat by while the Ku Klux Klan harassed African Americans (ACLU, 2017).

Racial profiling has spread over all over the world. Racial profiling has been a problem through the years, if the human race can learn what racial profiling is, advantages of the profiling, and the disadvantages.
Racial Profiling in America Racial profiling is defined as refers to the targeting of particular individuals by law enforcement authorities based not their behavior, but rather their personal characteristics ( The Leadership conference) . This is another mechanism for racial discrimination backed by the law. According to the The Leadership conference, racial discrimination is not solely on race, but based on religion, ethnicity and national origin.
Racial profiling is a very important issue that individuals in society face every day. This problem occurs in low income or poverty-stricken areas throughout cities and communities across the nation. Hundreds of anecdotal testimonials allege that law enforcement officials at all levels of government are infringing upon the constitutional rights and civil liberties of racial and ethnic minorities through a practice called “racial profiling” (Ward, 2002). So what is racial profiling? According to the National Institute of Justice, racial profiling by law enforcement is commonly defined as a practice that targets people for suspicion of crime based on their race, ethnicity, religion or national origin (National Institute of Justice, 2013).
