Issues and opinions about race is taught at home and at schools, giving children a lot if information to make decisions regarding races in America and helping to shape their personal views on their on the subject. History has created the way people view race relations today, and it affects the way it will be viewed in the future. In order to create a more equal environment for all races, there should be better education in schools. Ideas about race have been passed down for generations, creating the trends seen today. The best way to resolve racial tensions is to better educate everyone about diversity and race in the context of history. Lack of education about race relations in history has led to a problem in race relations today and could be fixed by implementing better education policies in schools.
History has been undeniably brutal to African Americans, they have been victims of the choices of other people for centuries. From slavery to segregation to brutality, it seems that it is always white people making decisions that affect them. Schools have found that there is a “struggle to have open and honest conversations in mixed-race classrooms about the atrocities of slavery”(Anderson). Children will often repeat what they hear at home, and sometimes it is inappropriate and shouldn’t be said in classroom. However, with better education, schools could help change the way slavery and current racial issues are viewed today and in the context of history and open a better conversation to kids in classrooms.
