Ethics alludes to well-founded established measures of right and wrong that endorse what people should do, as a rule as far as rights, commitments, advantages to society, decency, or specific virtues. Employers figured that to keep a business running and functioning properly, a code of ethics would be set in place. A code of ethics archive may layout the mission and values of the business or association, how experts should approach issues, the moral standards considering the association's center esteems and the measures to which the expert is held. As a soon to be member of the healthcare and radiation field, it is a must that I acknowledge the standards and codes of ethics as outlined by ARRT, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. …show more content…

These two sections are called the Code of Ethics and the Rules of Ethics. As stated by the ARRT, the Code of Ethics is to “serve as a guide by which Certificate Holders and Candidates may evaluate their professional conduct as it relates to patients, healthcare consumers, employers, colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team” (ARRT SOE, 2017), to me, it is meant to encourage elevated amounts of moral lead for radiological science experts while promoting high caliber of security and solace for patients. As for the Rules of Ethics, it is “standards of minimally acceptable professional conduct for all Registered Technologists and applicants” (ARRT SOE, 2017). It is meant to go hand in hand with the Code of Ethics by ensuring protection and care for patients and enforcing these rules are done with ease because, “they apply solely to ARRT certificate holders and thus, as the certifying body, ARRT has the power to revoke a radiologic technologist’s certification if any of the rules are violated” (Reed, 2011 p. 526). These includes any fraud, sexual misconduct, deceptive entries, failure to protect confidential patient information, etc. The Code of Ethics is meant to be an ethical checker in case you ever need to make sure you are doing what is meant for you. Each code should be checked in accordance with your work ethic. The Rules of Ethics is meant to show you what shouldn’t be done and how to abide by the rules of the ARRT, or it could cost you your job.
