The three companies I chose were Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Kaiser Permanente. Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit medical center in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland Clinic's Code of Ethics emphasizes integrity, empathy, teamwork, excellence, and innovation. Some of the strengths include clarity, inclusivity, and alignment with organizational values. Cleveland Clinic’s code of ethics explicitly addresses diversity and inclusion, emphasizing the importance of respecting individual differences, however, I feel it could provide more specific guidance on ethical decision-making processes and the policies they follow. A recommendation I would make for enhancement would be to work on a section on ethical decision-making tools that could assist employees during a complex situation, and incorporate examples that they can follow or use as guides when the time comes. The Mayo Clinic’s code of ethics primarily focuses on integrity, respect, compassion, teamwork, innovation, excellence, and stewardship. Kaiser Permanente’s code of ethics and conduct could focus more on ethical decision-making processes as well and identify potential weak points along with examples of solutions to help the employees if they come across the situation and help is needed. On top, training should be provided along with resources to aid employees in how to apply ethical principles in their everyday responsibilities and encounters. If I were to be an employee of the Cleveland Clinic, after gathering the information and similarities from the other companies, I would like to incorporate integrity, compassion, excellence, teamwork, diversity and inclusion, accountability, and professionalism.
