The Cleveland Clinic has made many changes throughout the years in order to improve value for the patients. One of the first steps that was taken by Dr. Cosgrove was to adopt Patients First as one of the main goals of the entire establishment (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). It is crucial that patients are always taken care of and that should be everyone's top priority. Therefore, all of the services had to be reorganized and various new institutes were established. This means that doctors can share information with one another in an easier and faster manner. As mentioned previously, patients are also able to access their own records, make appointments, change appointments, reschedule appointments, chat with their doctors, and more. The most important part is that this information can be shared in real time. Also, MyChart was revised in a way that persuaded patients to enroll when they decided to make an appointment. After signing up, they would be able to access their registration forms, worker’s comp forms, and so on, and then all of this information is sent to the patient’s chart that the physician can analyze before the patient’s appointment (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). First of all, they need to know what their opportunities and threats are. One of the biggest opportunities that the Cleveland Clinic has is to be able to expand internationally. An example would be when Canadian patients would come all of the way to the US to avoid long wait times for complex surgeries (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). The clinic can definitely make use of this opportunity. This is why they decided to open a wellness service in Canada in order to attract more Canadian patients (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). Therefore, it is crucial that the relationships between all of the doctors expand as well and that they understand each other. Other than that, the clinic also added another hospital in Abu Dhabi. They also had to provide them with the same knowledge, culture, and technology (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). Expanding has been beneficial in improving care for patients because they can learn from one another by sharing information and knowledge. Therefore, the Cleveland Clinic can benefit from expanding to other countries as well. When evaluating the external environment, the clinic also needs to pay attention to potential threats. A threat can be changes in laws that could affect how procedures are done regionally and internationally. Another threat could be disruptions in technology because there are expected to be more Internet users in the future. Also, pandemics can be a threat as well
