Screenings As a student at Central Ohio Technical College, I plan to become a radiologist tech. My decision to become a radiologist tech just came to me all of a sudden. I was at work at the time during the summer, and my friend/co-worker wanted me to go to school with him. I ask him “to study what”? His response was radiology tech. I liked the idea because the program is a part of the medical field and the fact that the human structure is interesting to me. I have never seen or know anybody who is a radiology tech, but have heard that it is a great career. In that case, I do not know exactly what a radiology tech does, besides the fact they take x-rays of the human body. That all changed when I had the chance to observe a radiology technologist named Doctor Kit and when I watched a video by CareerRx, both were on Youtube. These videos have completely changed my thoughts of what a radiologist tech does. I learned what it takes to qualify to become a radiology tech. It shows a radiology tech working with a patient. Before the inspections, the radiology tech reads the physicians’ notes about the patient. Once read the tech know where to do the inspection on the patient’s body. The surroundings of the room is painted all white, there is a table in the middle of the room for the patient to lay on, there is a window for the technician to watch the patient, and the great big machine that points directly over the patient. In for less radiation exposure, both the radiology tech and patient wear protective lead clothing. The patient’s clothing exposes the part of the body that need inspections. The radiology tech then stands behind the window in the other room with a speaker to comfort the patient while the tech snaps photographs. The photos are processed and then taken to a doctor or
