In the Lord of the Flies written by William Golding is a novel focused on conflict. Conflict is very shown throughout the book using the two characters Ralph and Jack’s by incorporating their leadership skills. Ralph is more precise and wants things to get done. He wants to make sure the group of boys are safe with shelters, food,or water. Although, Jack is the type of leader to focus more on controlling the other boys and hunting to gain respect. These two characters fight each other throughout the novel , each show good and evil in their leadership. Ralph became chief and decided to show how his leadership will benefit the other boys for their safety. Ralph has came to know how he is a better leader for the boys, “You’re chief, Ralph. You remember everything”(Golding 173). Piggy, a friend of ralph has said this about ralph because he knows he is a responsible leader. As a chief you should remember the important things so that he can use them whenever is necessary. Jack is an rude character with low self esteem. Jack doesn't care about what responsibilities are needed for survival “ Who’ll join my tribe and have fun?” showing that he is careless. Jack seems to be focused on having fun then the necessities that are necessary. “Jack was the first to make himself heard. He had not got the conch and thus spoke against the rules.” (Golding 87) by putting himself out there he broke one of the first rules.
