By “gangsta rap” I mean his rap was related to his ghetto life on the streets.
Hip Hop is seen as something inspiring, but most people see it as a way to speak out the truth about a problem. As in “Hip Hop planet” being able say the truth can sometimes worsen any situation because sometimes what we say can promote violence and whatever happens after is not in our control. My generation has been saturated with music that is degrading. The mainstream rappers and hip hop artists continue to thrive because of the popularity of their music. Supporters of these popular artists continue to listen to this music because they can connect to the themes represented. Many people are involved in violence and listening to mainstream rappers just reflects what they are experiencing. People also enjoy mainstream rappers because of the catchy beats and hooks.
No matter who you are or where you are, you will always be listening to music regardless if you’d want to or not. Though you may have different taste in music, you will always listen to some genres that you do not like. Some people will try to find themselves in other music and be inspired by the same subject. But someone had to be the first to get the idea of music and other just came along and changed it to their prospective along the journey of hundreds of musicians that made it and tons more than didn’t make it, they still pursued it because it was what they enjoyed and what they found to be what is most important to them. In Hip-Hop, there is a lot of debate over who is the G.O.A.T. of the genre of the game. To wear that title you have to fall into a few categories, those being lyricism, originality, storytelling, cultural impact and commercial success. One artist who has been argued to be the G.O.A.T. Hip-Hop is Kendrick Lamar. He fits into all 5 categories exceptionally, making waves through his exemplary bodies of work and has achieved critical acclaim and success for his work. Therefore, I believe that Kendrick Lamar is the greatest rapper of all time.

Rap music dose not promote violence; it only depicts the destruction that is happening all over America. Music should not be criticized based on its style. Greatness is the quality that radiates from the inside out; It is who you are when you are honouring your values and living a life of purpose. In other words, when you are stepping into your true self. I believe rap enables people to demonstrate their greatness. However, the power to address viewers of ethical conflicts in our environment through music should be considered more important than talent. Artists such as Tupac Shakur use music to educate his audience of the specific cultural barriers which negatively impact black communities. In addition, Dr. Dre was influenced by Tupac and began to inspire other artists, such as Nas.

Mainstream hip hop culture is also filled with misogyny and negative images of women. These artists are unaware that sexism has been forced onto them through the brainwashing from the media, which is controlled by a patriarchal society. Conversely, feminism is the belief that both genders should have equal power.
Rock and roll is just beginning to be accepted as an art form, as opposed to just another musical trend. It’s only been popular since the mid twentieth century. However, despite the genre’s young age, it has hugely impacted the US, and the rest of the world. It’s a versatile genre, one that each generation can make into their own. Due to this, it reflects the values of the past sixty years far better than classical or jazz music is able to, yet still appears to be resilient, not just a passing fad like pop music.
It is fair to say that currently, rock is going through a rough patch. And I am not talking about album sales or market share because statistics can be used to manipulate the truth. I am talking about the quality of music and artistes on offer. I know I am not the final authority on this and my views are my own, but I do think rock is at a crossroads right now. There was much fanfare about the fact that rock albums accounted for over 34% of sales in 2013, accompanied with startlingly original headlines like “Rock N’ Roll is not dead”.
