Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois. He lived a fairly pleasant childhood, in which he was a lover of adventure and fantasy fiction. In particular, he loved the works of Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and L. Frank Baum. Thanks to this passion, Bradbury decided to become a writer at the ripe age of about 12 years old, hoping to emulate his heroes, and “life forever” through his books. In high school, he participated in the drama club, and his first writing job was in writing a joke for the Burns and Allen Show. After high school, due to financial burdens, he skipped college and instead sold newspapers, while simultaneously pursuing his writing career.
