On September 14th in jail, Mescosta County, prisoner Raymong Paul Holmes commited sucide by hanging himself from a rope. Holmes was arrested on August 29th for the operating a drug lab, first-degree retail fraud and possession of marijuana. His previous criminal record shows Holmes has been very active with charges varying from dosmestic-violence, operating intoxicated, use of a controlled substance to fourth-degree fleeing police and disorderly drunk. After a couple day of his arrest, the deputies where informed by Holmes family about his strong medical and psychological needs. He was reported to be mentally unstable and had suicidal ideations and theirfore he required additinal attention. This upset Holmes even more, who was already depressed from the death of his best friend recently. That night, the the Mecosta County Jail surveillance footage captured of Deputy Ryan Dean, conducting visual inspection of jail cells, walked right by the holding cell of Raymond Paul Holmes without even looking into the holding cell. Rather than conducting a 'visual inspection' of the holding cell of Raymond Paul Holmes to check on his well-being, Deputy Ryan Dean continued his attention on the television which was reportedly broadcasting Monday Night Football as he walked by the locked holding cell of Raymond Paul Holmes. While Raymond Paul Holmes was in the locked-down holding cell hanging himself, Deputy Ryan Dean, at all material times, was reportedly watching Monday Night Football with other inmates rather than concerning himself with the well-being of Raymond Paul Holmes, who had a clear and known risk of suicide. Inmates saw Holmes and told Dean that Holmes had hanged himself. Dean had to go downstairs to retrieve keys to open the cell.Holmes was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where he died two days
