The Declaration of Independence grants rights to citizens such as life, liberty, and pursuiting happiness. In the government's event violating these rights, citizens can uphold a lawsuit against them. During the Enlightenment period, beliefs such as the idea that "all men are created equal" were referred to as natural rights that should be guaranteed to all citizens. Having a free expression right, a free press right, and a free government is an essential component of the right to freedom, which does not suppress individuals by using unfair punishments or unfair methods to subdue them. Because of the Declaration of Independence, all citizens have rights and freedoms, as well as protection from oppression.

The Declaration of Independence states that all men “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. What is strange is that this was the first time in history anyone had bothered to write these words down. What is not strange is that among those rights granted to us, the founders placed life first. The founders were deeply religious men, and they understood the sanctity of human life. The founders also understood the delicate balance that would be required between compelling government interests and individual liberties.
In 1776, Thomas Jefferson wrote the words that still shape America today, “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” These three rights are essential to my life, and America would not be the same without them. For over 240 years, previous Americans have fought so my generation can have these rights. I believe that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are America’s gifts to my generation. Life is a gift bestowed upon us by God and protected by American law.
Introduction to the Ten Amendments The Ten Amendments of the Constitution are also called the Bill of Rights. These Ten Amendments are the rights and freedom Americans were ratified in 1791 using the process of three-fourths majority vote of all the states. These amendments were ratified mostly because of fear of an over powerful central government that could eventually lead to tyranny. In response, the Ten Amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights, was added to the United States Constitution to guarantee the individual’s essential rights and civil liberties.

America’s gift to my generation consists of the Declaration of Independence and the First Amendment of the Constitution. The two documents are relevant to american history which impacts our day to day living. The Declaration of Independence is the most significant gift America has given to my generation, because it gave birth to what is known today as the United States of America. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress declared that the thirteen colonies were a new nation, and that the United States of America were no longer part of the British Empire. Two days later on July 4, 1776, Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence, and as a result the date is celebrated as Independence Day.

As the great JFK once stated, instead of asking what my country can do for me, I must ask myself what I can do for my country. I am not legally an adult, yet I am still bounded by the law just like any other American citizen. I don’t get to participate in voting elections and be on jury duty, but I am still a crucial part of the American society. One of the main responsibilities to America is to follow the laws set by the Congressmen elected by the people.
As Americans, we are provided with certain freedoms that no other countries have. These freedoms are listed in the Bill of Rights located in the Constitution signed by James Madison in 1787. These amendments play important roles in our society and personal lives. They can be summed up with the unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Adding the Bill of Rights to the Constitution, was not only a celebration for those who yearned for individual liberty, but it was also meant to be more than just a “parchment barrier;” however, for that to happen citizens must understand the content and the meaning of the Bill of Rights.
, I immediately think of three words, freedom, love and family. The most important right someone can have in this world is freedom and luckily for americans we have the luxury of freedom all the time. America has the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition, the freedoms I just listed are only a few that America are known for. Sadly for other countries, most of them do not allow freedom at all. America is known for all of their freedom but, with freedom comes a lot of responsibility and that responsibility is why I think of the word love.
In America, we are protected by certain laws and right. We have the Bill of Rights which protects certain freedoms that other countries do not get to experience. We are very privileged in that sense. Amendment four, five, six, and eight are called the Rights of the accused. They protect those against abuse by the federal government.
