Being an American means a few things. Freedom, protecting the weak, loving your country, and being active in political affairs. The most important and also the most defining is freedom. Americans are free in both mind and body; able to think freely and, for the most part, act accordingly. Being an American means that almost anyone can run for government positions.
I know that for me I believe in many things America has to offer and I am grateful to live in this nation. In America, we get the freedom to speak freely. To be an american you must act live as an american, so be free, strong, and courageous. Being american is best understood by the way of life as an American. Since the birth of america, Americans have fought for what they thought was right and to fulfill a dream or their manifest destiny. From the start of America we acted on the human rights and set ourselves free and formed the idea of freedom and strength in America. With the Amendments established our freedoms like the first amendment Freedom of expression which states “the First Amendment means that government has no power to restrict expression because of its message, its ideas, its subject matter, or its content” as said by Thurgood Marshall.
What it means to be an American is that you have the freedom to vote freedom of speech. You have the liberty to be what you want in America no one chooses for you. Also have the liberty to work wherever you want not be someone 's slave. Being American means you don 't have to hide your religion, the color of your skin or your sex. You have the ability to speak what you want.
For many years, and years to come, America has been a country that many people like to visit and enjoy. We are very patriotic here in America, many people believe in our country’s ways and leaders. People enjoy visiting America not only because of our wonderful land and nature, but also because people like to see what it is like to be free and to have freedom of expression and all of those amendments that make our country free and great. Though we do have great lands and an extremity of beautiful nature surrounding us, especially here in Michigan. America has been known as a very patriotic and fair country, we are the land of the free and home of the brave.
Almost all Americans have varied definitions on what being an American means. In the 1800’s we had what seems to be a single meaning for the word American. It was that they defended and fought for the country they love and also a vast majority of America was white men, but hey, we have to start somewhere. With our home across the seas we were safe from persecution. Now, we work alongside the British in trade, news, and of course in the United Nations.
Being an American can mean many different things all depending on the different perspectives of different ethnic or religious groups. So what does being an American mean to me? Being an American to means that everyone can live a happy stress free life where they don’t have to worry about being discriminated against or feeling like they don’t have equal rights. To start with, being an American can range in definition depending on a person 's perspective of America. Personally, I would say being an American is when you can live a happy life where you don 't have to worry about being treated differently because of the color of your skin.
.America is the land of opportunity to many individuals. It gives people a chance to become who they really desire to be. That idea though, is not always true. What sometimes occurs is that people who want to become a true American make themselves believe that the only way to do so is by becoming powerful and losing the morals that they were taught. What has been ingrained in much of society is that if one does not do one of those things they are lesser than the ones who do.
Our life in America has recently taken a turn for the better. With Irish folk in Boston being the poorest of the poor and most of the businesses hanging signs in their windows telling Irish not to apply for jobs, put my family in quite a financial dilemma. Until a neighbouring family in our apartment building proposed a plan for our two families to run a tavern together, as we were both struggling to find jobs and afford all the necessities to survive in Boston. The terms of our agreement are each family member from both sides will fully participate by having an assigned and at first all our profits would go to paying off our debts, then eventually everyone will start to earn money. I can now confidently say that our plan was an utter success
America is the place that seems to give opportunities and equal changes to all. They have more freedom than others (but not total freedom). America is a united people working together. I believe America is a place where all people have a chance to succeed in life. I also believe that in America people have the freedom to stand up for their beliefs and fight for them.
What does it meant to be american? In america we might have conflicts like diversity, political problems, and more. America also has some amazing aspects to it we have freedom. With us having freedom that means that we can believe in any religion, have freedom of speech, and much more. In america we have a great military, army, and marines.
Did you know that people that live in the America tend to have the one of the shortest life rates of all the states? Also other states think that some people that lives in the U.S.A are fat or over weight. Over 70 percent of American teenagers, children and some adults spend most of the time on video games such and an Xbox, PS. So they do not get a lot of time outside to breath and have fun with real live heart beating people. The best thing is the Wii because it has real games that you have to get up and play the games like Tennis, Soccer, Basketball and other games also.
When a person hears or sees the word America, what do they think? America is a country that almost everyone in the world knows about because there are certain words and phrases that can be used to describe it. Some common terms are sports, equality, the melting pot, powerful, freedom, hard working, and some more. All of these words make up what is known as the American Identity. This American Identity has been built up over time by people’s actions and thoughts.
The United States of America is a beacon of freedom shining bright in a world of confusion. What started as a grand experiment for large scale democracy is now the worlds strongest and most influential nation in human history. Freedom is not free and many brave men and women have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect what we all cherish on a daily basis. Our liberties far exceed that which any other government has bestowed upon its people. Obviously, there is something special about freedom in the United States.

American literature, music, and art all contribute to why America has a new sense of nationalism, and are starting a great new country. America is a prideful, and great young country, which is exactly why you should visit the United States, and potentially live here.
