Why do people come to America? People come to America because the freedom and our land. They come to America for the opportunities for jobs, education and they also came for religious freedom. They also want to profit by selling crops,clothing and machines.
As I ponder over my life, each memory seems identical to the other, and I find myself drifting through a reality of similar events that generate the same memories and emotions. Looking back further into my childhood includes memories of my homeland. I remember entering a new world at the age of five, where all of my later memories would be formed. This was when my family moved to the United States from Peru, my native country in the South. The complete change in culture and values truly impacted me when I first moved to Florida, and I reflect over the significant effect it has had on my character during the last thirteen years of my life.
Traveling to a country much different from one’s home can be life changing. Recently having traveled to a small community in Costa Rica, my life has been changed. Although people came to America for opportunities, there were consequences that occurred. In time, the people of America gained hostility towards immigration after people from Southern and Eastern Europe migrated to America. Eventually, the feelings of nativism came about because of the fear of communism and since America was experiencing the Great Depression, we were unable to afford the influx of immigration. Therefore, America found the need to pass a legislation called The National Origins Act which was passed in 1924 because of the hostile feelings towards immigrants.
There are approximately 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States spawning from many different countries and continents. Illegal immigrants come to America to escape from many different kinds of mistreatment from their home country. When an individual moves they are often followed by others who are encouraged to find a better quality of life. Obtaining a citizenship is strenuously difficult to attain because of raised standards, language and education barriers, along with the fear of the United States government and society projecting bias towards immigrants. The feeling of being burdensome, unappreciated, and unintelligent due to the language barrier when communicating with others.
You know all those people that told you video games are bad for you? They were wrong. Video games aren’t bad for you, they’re actually making your life better. For years video games have been criticised for making people more anti-social, overweight, or depressed.
