The death of the young lovers Romeo and Juliet were tragic. There death would have not even occured if everything was done differently. There are many factors that led to the catastrophe but, I believe Friar Lawrence and bad timing is most at fault for the death of these young lovers for a few reasons Friar should not given the idea of his plan to Juliet, the guilt of misdeeds, and poor judgment. To begin, Friar Lawrence could of prevented everything from the start. Even being able to stop the deaths of Mercutio and Tybalt. When the eager lovers came to Friar and asked him to marry them he only agreed to because he thought it would end the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. At that moment he had a chance to unite the families by making their relationships public.Even though he had good intentions he did not stop to think of the consequences. How would they keep their relationship secret? Instead by agreeing to keep it secret that was the starting point that would eventually be lead to the suicides of Romeo and Juliet. If their relationship was revealed Mercutio and Tybalt would not get in a fight for Romeo and Juliet because they would now be considered “family”. His plan consisted of Juliet taking a potion faking her “death” then sending a letter to Romeo that stimulates the plan and he comes and gets his love then running away together. “Take thou this vial, being then in bed and this distilled liquor drink though off, when presently through all thy veins run a cold and drowsy humor for no pulse. Shall keep his native progress, but surceased.” (iv.i.93.97) This plan was unrealistic and the odds were slim for it to work. But, they still went along with it.
