I agree with Francis Schaeffer when he contends that Rome fell because it had no sufficient inward base. There are many different reasons that eventually led to the fall of the Roman empire. One of the reasons that goes into the category of Roman not having sufficient inward base is the hostility and opposition between the Roman Emperor and the Roman Senate. The Senate was the advisor for the Emperor and throughout history the Emperors were either not liked by the Senate or they did not agree with the rulings that were being made. If the Roman Emperors and higher authority do not agree and get along, then it will just cause distress throughout the empire.
