As people try to prove that being gay is biological, individuals like Robert Kuzig writes in his essay “Finding the Switch” “Homosexuality was not a biological trait at all but a psychological defect” (88).People who disagree with me and say that being gay is a choice use many arguments that make a person think or question one’s self. People who say that it’s a choice use the argument that people who are gay do not have figures to look up to of their same sex in their lives. Another argument, that is also used, is that there are no gay animals or forms of living in nature. People who use this argument say that being gay is simply a choice that results from bad parenting. Finally, one of the strongest arguments that people who say it’s a choice
"I Stand Here Ironing" is a powerful and complex short story by Tillie Olsen that explores the challenges faced by women in a patriarchal society. The story centers around a mother reflecting on her relationship with her daughter, Emily, and their difficulties together. Through the mother's voice, the story highlights several feminist themes, including the societal pressures placed on women, the impact of economic and political systems on women's lives, and the importance of solidarity among women. One of the central themes of the story is the role of women in society.
Colson states “The family, led by a married mother and father, is the best available structure for both child rearing and cultural health” (Colson, page 578). Says who? How is a non-heterosexual couple any less capable of raising a child? Not to mention, all the single parents out there due to either divorce or became widowed. A stable and loving environment is what a child needs, not for people to place a label on his or her parents.
The article, Domestic Violence Advocacy, is related to the Criminal Justice System in many ways. The process of the domestic violence Advocacy started by identifying the problem facing the society and its implication to the society. This was started by a group of experts, ranging from lawyers, activisms, social and political sectors. The process went to the second stage where the investigations were done through interviewing people to get to the root of the problem and understand how domestic violence was affecting the society and individuals. The next stage was that the issue was discussed based on the facts and opinions obtained from the investigation and considered legal or illegal in the society.
Autonomy of Marriage Growing up in an affluent and conservative family, my parents have always instructed me to find a mate with a matching social status. However, my family never restricted my brother and sister to marry who they love, which unfortunately either of them has done, provided they find their mates to be fitting their personalities and family status. During the classroom discussion on this issue, although I had some frictions with my original views, my central claim—parents should not control children’s marriage, but children themselves should exercise discretion. My parents’ view has also shaped my view on this issue.
Parents’ genders teach children the gender role they have in the world. Children with an ideal family have the opportunity to relate to both sexes. On the other hand, same-sex parenting is harmful to children because it is very limited for them and also they tend to be more likely to be sexually confused and the psychological help must be required for them. The ideal family structure for children consists of a mother (female) and a father
Although some people believe that being gay is wrong and that it should be “corrected”, when it comes to the rights of children and their right/s (?) to express their sexuality, parents should not be able to control their children’s same-sex attraction by sending them to conversion therapy because it is unconstitutional, the methods used are evidently damaging to children, and the ex-gay movement is posing a large threat to the LGBT community. Parents should not be allowed to force their children into conversion therapy because doing so is an infringement on a child 's basic rights, it is unconstitutional, and minors (below 18 years of age) deserve the right to make certain decisions for themselves. (?) It should be banned on a national level
Conversion Therapy Although many people have strong convictions against gay people, sometimes leading parents to attempt to change their children’s sexual orientation, it should be banned on a national level for parents to be able to force their children under the age of 18 into conversion therapy because it is unconstitutional, it evidently damages the child's wellbeing, and the methods have never even been proven by credible research. Members of the ex-gay (anti-LGBT) movement argue that banning reparative therapy is an infringement on the rights to freedom of speech and religion, while parents following this movement have similar feelings and believe that putting their child through conversion therapy will help them be ridded of an "unwanted
III) Homosexuals can provide the love, care and home that a child needs (Reason). A) Homosexuals work and know what it means to provide a home not only for themselves but for a child (Warrant). B) According to the article “Gay Parenting Pros and Cons” by Crystal Lombardo gay parents are about the benefits of the new family unit and its impact to society, they are able to help in focusing on the child’s welfare and are able to give the child they adopt the opportunity of living in a loving family which they have not yet experienced (Backing). 1)
There is a huge controversy going on about this but I would make it to where it cannot happen. I know some people may be upset about this but some couples of the same sex want kids and I feel that the kids would be hurt worse. My reasoning for this is because I believe that a child should be raised in a home where his/her mother or father. If his/her parent or not together they should know they have a mother and a father, not two moms or two dads.
UNICEF (United Nations International Children 's Emergency Fund) UNICEF deals with child marriage as part of its broader approach to gender discrimination that undermines the rights of children and women. In order to ensure that girls have an equal opportunity at education, which is imperative in preventing child marriages and the overall development of girls, UNICEF 's Global Girls ' Education Program operates in more than 60 countries. In addition to supporting campaigns and creating education systems, UNICEF also has helped develop two successful initiatives in South Asia and sub-Saharan African, the regions with highest rate of child marriage. The Meena initiative and the Sara Adolescent Girl Communication Initiative served as
My second reason for supporting LGBT/ same-sex marriage is the reason for discrimination against marriage. The UDHR article number 7 illustrates that all people are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination. Furthermore, article 1 of the UDHR also indicates that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. We should act towards one another in a spirit of a brother. By denying the same right as anybody else just because you are different is a clear form of discrimination, and it goes against the constitution.
A family should be based on love and trust, if these two elements are present in a relationship, there would be no reason that the environment the couple creates for a child would be bad. If we look into the pros that adoption by gay parents have, we consider adoption as a very important part of
Marriage brings legal rights that secure a couple that if not wedded, they should not have. Then again, some contend that gay person marriage may make issue bring up a youngster and upset the normal, natural reproduction of humanity (Burns, 2005). Thesis Statement Supporting gay marriage will bring peace and equality in the society and will promote better relationships and parenting. Changing Views on Traditional Marriage
