Many say that marching band is not a sport and then try to give it a reason. The truth is, marching band does as much as any other sport. Marching band is not seen as a sport because most believe that we are just there to cheer on the football team. MArching band is a sport and here is why. Marching band is a sport because they do as much as any sport, does as much as any other sports team, and they are not just there to cheer on the football team.
Marching band does as much as every other sports team. The definition of sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment, and marching band meets each of the requirements. In marching band you have to be able to play an instrument or spin flags/rifles and march to form formations. Marching bands compete against each other for entertainment. Therefore it is a sport.

Marching band had to do a lot of multitasking. Such as playing an instrument, remembering the music and where to go, marching correctly, making sure not to run into others, and keeping in time with the drum major. To be able to do all of this it takes practice, and lots of it. We start practice a month and a half before school starts those are ten hour days with a three hour break in between, this is everyday except the weekends till school starts. When school starts we have have three hour practices on monday, tuesday, thursday, friday. Then on saturday’s we have an eleven hour practices with a thirty minute break for lunch. We constantly practice and go for the sake of a show to compete with. Also we are just a high school marching band, the big leagues are much more intense.If this is not a sport, then what
