Recruitment problems:
Many factors that discourage the entry of the nurses in the nursing profession also affect the retention of well-qualified nurses.
Many are the current recruitment problems faced by Health Care Industry and Fraser Health looking for enrolling more nurses in the system. Firstly, because based on the research of Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), the number of the graduates from the nursing diploma programs and the university basic bachelor nursing programs in Canada decreased from 7,387 to 5,500. •In the recent years, for the newly qualified Registered Nurses there have been opportunities to obtain the full-time positions. Due to the declination in the enrollment of nurses from the last five years, there is no increase in the number of graduate nurses in the short span of time.
In the report of American association of colleges of nursing (AACN), there is increase of 4% in the bachelor degree enrollment between 2000 and 2001.

• The percentage of the part-time nurses is increasing as compared to the full-time nurses.
• The percentage of Registered Nurses between 1994 to 1999, working as part-time increased from 39.5% to 45.3% and the percentage of the full-time nurses decreased from the 54.9% to 51.1%.
• Most of the young nurses are leaving the nursing profession, within three years of the graduation, two nurses out of the ten are opting the course out of the profession.
• The average age of the nursing graduates is continuing to increase. These older graduates have few years to contribute in the nursing field.
In the report 2015, Fraser Health has a staff of 25,000 people and 10,000 are nurses, they are presenting the 40% of the workforce.
