One question that came to my mind was: Why did Jake not start at the quarterback position even though he had an abundant family history with his brother Wyatt and dad Troy being astonishing quarterbacks for the Granger Cowboys? After learning some extraordinary history about the family from the book, it was evident that the whole town of Granger had the same verbatim opinion: "Troy Cullen was the best quarterback that Granger football had ever seen until his first son started as a freshman and instantly became a town favorite after the two of them had won state championships their senior year for the Granger Cowboys" (Lupica 13). Additionally, Troy Cullen was able to play in the National Football League, but injuries seriously shortened his brief career and he had to walk away from the game due to fatal head injuries. Furthermore, Wyatt was also a sensation in Granger as he led the football team to an undefeated season in his junior and senior year, and ended up as the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns in his freshman year. Over all of those years, the Granger Cowboys still had the same coach and he still did not start Jake at the quarterback, despite the compelling family history the Cullen family had.
Examples within the text helped me determine, understand, and relate to the theme. From the very start of the story the narrator and writer, Amy, gave us clues on whom or what she was trying to be. She begged her mother to shop for her in the boys department of JC Pennys and wears clothes that are baggy with sport slogans on them.

In How to Read Literature Like a Professor, Thomas C. Foster discusses various literary themes to help the reader more thoroughly understand and analyze pieces of literature. Foster references several literary works to demonstrate the depth added from the implication of the concepts. He writes that many authors use the same tools to shape their writing, therefore “Literature … grows out of other literature”(Foster 24). He also elaborates upon how the context changes the notion the reader receives from a device, such as with different weather or the mood when sharing food. Common literary themes, such as communion and weather, can be applied to “The Interlopers” and “The Scarlet Ibis” to further understand the meaning of these devices within the context of the stories.

Today, in Literature for Children we go into our literature circles and talked about the book that our teacher gave us to read. My group ended up getting the book The Sign Of The Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare. In this literature circle my role was the connector. I had to connect the story to my own past experiences, happenings at school or in the community, stories in the news, similar events at other times or places, other people or problems that you are reminded of or between this book and other writings. I picked to do the one that sounded the easiest to me, so I ended up doing my own past experiences.
Instead of focusing on one section that has noting to do with the story, but instead with the times the book was written in, the main focus should be the journey a young woman went through to find herself and her
This assignment was to compose a well written essay which would persuade the reader, Ms. Oliveria to read the novella “Of Mice and Men.” We were required to create reasoning using only three main points and evidence from the text in order to persuade the reader to read the novel. I created a exemplary essay and argued that the novella “Of mice and Men” strongly depicted hopelessness, tragedy, and sacrifice through the literary technique of symbolism. Our class was required to create an essay outline and go through a series of creating rough drafts and making extensive corrections. In approximately two months I created a proficient essay.
