Over the course of the semester I have noticed a significant increase in the skills I have as a writer, and the skills I already had. Going into the class I was a little self-conscious about how my writing flowed and how well of I writer I was in general. I believed that I did not use enough transitions, that I never had strong enough arguments, and that overall I was just an average writer. After writing my first essay I was a little nervous about how the results of it were going to turn out. What I got back during our conference was some reassuring grades as well as some reassuring comments. The stuff that you told me I was already efficient at utilizing and the little areas I can improve in shocked me. I did not believe that the paper I had written was in the grade range it was, so doing our first conference sessions I was pleasantly surprised. …show more content…
This is because of what has been going on today with Donald Trump’s administration, it has made me aware of all that is going on. Also, I am currently registered in a general education class called “Immigration and the American Dream” that talks a significant amount about immigration and the new orders by Trump. All of our in-class discussions are related to immigration, so I found myself having a good amount of material to write about for Essay 3. Some of the topics that I struggled with was the Thoreau readings in the beginning of the semester. I just felt as if I never fully grasped what the point of Thoreau’s meaning was in his reading. I understood all the other readings in that unit such as Freire’s, Gatto’s, and Friedman’s, but I always found myself getting confused whenever Thoreau came into the
