Late May, 2016. I was 13 years old, about to leave on a two week long road trip, and had just discovered the magic of musicals. Before then, I had abhorred the very idea of a musical, why would people randomly burst into song and choreographed dance for no reason? Now, I can not write anything decent without a musical playing in the background. The purpose of this essay is to analyze my writing process and how my process can be strengthened, for three textual artifacts. The artifacts that I will be analyzing in this assignment, are essays that I wrote in Jr high and high school. The most recent essay is a persuasive argument about air pollution. The audience is my instructor at home, and their purpose is to educate the reader on the subject I am explaining. My ethnographies include a paragraph that reflected on my writing process after having written a story, and screenshots taken for visual field notes. Through my research, I have found that my writing process tends to stay the same, despite my topic, audience, or genre. I also found that musicals impact my writing process. I loved writing that essay, being that I am of Hungarian descent, and the fact that Elizabeth Bathory was the basis for many vampire tales. This essay did have a lot of puns, that were probably in bad taste. I was making jokes about blood: “That night triggered a twenty-four year bloodbath(pun intended)”. I mad jokes about murderers like Lizzie Borden:”(and one of the most famous female serial killers who didn't use a hatchet, looking at you, Lizzie)”.
