Reflective Essay On The AP Computer Science Online Course

An obstacle in my life was a high school sponsored AP Computer Science online course. The year I took the course was the first year my school offered any online courses, so they were still working out the kinks. The challenge began when we were just getting started. I had to work with the librarians for two days, just to get logged into the site. The course was very informative, a little challenging, but a struggle to communicate. The biggest hassle was trying to make the AP test deadline, while school was not in session. When I signed up for the course we were told there would be an introduction session, and a mentor to help us with any trouble. When I got my schedule there was no room number, teacher’s name, directions, or anything. I went in a half hour early on the first day to seek information. I was expecting to be handed a room number or a mentor’s name. Instead I received empty minded stares from the office staff. On more than one occasion I had to ask the instructor to rephrase the question because it was too ambiguous. There was even one time they were missing source code that was necessary for the assignment.*transition* Three weeks from the scheduled end of course, I received a message from the instructor. She informed me that there was an error in the information I received. The true end date was two weeks earlier than I anticipated. In a panicked rush I managed to complete my last three chapters on time. I can’t say the same for any of my classmates. Due to my persistence and dedication to this challenge, I was the only student to complete the first semester and to be enrolled in the second. As a result, I was selected by my principle for the schools highest honor, The Knights of The Round
