My greatest success during the four years that I have been in the BSW program is when I was inducted into the Alpha Delta Mu social work honor society. This membership is not granted to everyone so I knew it was something special. Being honored with this achievement let me know that I am doing something right within my department and my professors noticed all the hard work I put in. Being inducted just makes me want to work harder to really make a difference in the field of social work and other people lives.

I have become more aware of myself while attending Delaware State University and learned about different cultures and met people of different ethnicities. In the BSW program I learned how to conduct myself as a professional social worker, apply critical thinking, apply several theories and ethical principles, cultural competency, advocate for human rights and economic justice, apply knowledge of human behavior, and engage in research. Even when my friends come to me with a conflict I don’t look at the situation the same way anymore. The teachers taught us to the best of their ability and helped us understand theories and etc. that we couldn’t fully grasp in the textbook. I feel like I learned a lot about myself in this program also. The courses in the program really had me reflecting on my values, morals, and how they might affect me in my future and career. The program did a good job relating the four underpinnings to the courses, teaching us to not be bias, learn how to apply theories to clients, and being ethical at all times. I feel like the BSW program helped prepare me for the graduate program and to not rely on the teachers to teach everything but to rely on the syllabus and the textbook. One of the things that I suggest change is having more professors learn how to use blackboard because it is very convenient for students and professors. I say this because I had one of the professors lose my paper and instead of contacting me about it they gave me a zero for my midterm grade. I tried to contact the professor and they would brush me off even when I went to them when they were free. They kept getting me confused with other students name, basically didn’t know who I was and this made me frustrated. This professor had me print another copy and when it was time for them to pass out
