I was fifteen years old, the night before her death she calls all her friends on the phone with closes friends. The morning before she dies, she didn’t say word to me at all. I went to school like regular normal day laughing at my friend jokes and eating school breakfast. I went to class to class regular routine until I was in my last class science. My sister Stephine came in class crying telling me mom is in hospital.
Recently, I began a mission to find a great college to attend. After careful consideration and several reasons, I chose to start my process at Suny Empire State College. I majored in psychology fifteen years ago while attending Long Island University Brooklyn Campus but unfortunately, I did not complete. Instead, I chose to begin a beautiful family. Needless to say, I am not the typical age of a college student.
Warrensburg Missouri, being a college town, is full of many opportunities such as joining Greek life, getting internships, and most impotently getting a college degree. Being the first to attend college in my family, I have been self-motivated to attend class’s everyday on a daily bases and even build time into my schedule to study for quizzes and exams. For the past four months, I have been attending the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg. Therefore, I have learned the highs and lows of being a college student at the university. Being a college student at UCM in Warrensburg has many lows.
Being able to connect with the community and with my peers will be a valuable and unforgettable experience. Not only will I be able to learn from the community, but from my fellow peers, medical students, high school students, and other undergraduates as well. Getting to me mentored by people who have done what I want to do will be enriching, it’ll be an experience that ill cherish forever. Creating long lasting friendships with people who have similar interest.
The summer of 2016 my family and I took a road trip to Colorado. Colorado reminded me a lot of Minnesota but on a big Mountain. There are river valleys that are 1,250 feet deep to mountains that are 14,114 feet high. I climbed a mountain in Glenwood Canyon.
New York University specifically interests me because of the profound sense of unity within its diverse urban campus in New York City. The unique backgrounds of its community members creates a compelling dynamic in and out of the classroom experience. When searching for where I wanted to spend the next years of my life after I graduate, I never encountered an atmosphere so invigorating and so impassioned as NYU. I could want nothing more than to one day call myself a part of this motivational community, building relationships with people who share my passion for helping others and who will both value my talents as well as challenge me to grow. I particularly grew fond of the economics program as it is recognized as one of the best in the world
During this semester at Central Michigan University, I can defiantly say that this semester has probably been my best semester here at CMU. Also the reason why I said this is because of my academics, my social life, and connection I had made during this semester. My first year was a struggle for me, not taking the initiative to seek help or go to SI session. While evaluating, over the summer, I knew I must work hard in order to stay at Central Michigan University and also to graduate on time. This semester, I feel like I am ending on the right note.
As a student, I have grown in my skills for academic success by having to write an essay in my Honors English class. We’ve recently finished reading the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and were told to write an essay about one of the given prompts. Before having to write this essay, I was struggling with the type of vocabulary and perspective, which was third-person, I was supposed to use. I had to find the right quotes from the book and explain in detail how they support the prompt, I felt that was the hardest for me. The words “I” or “me” weren’t allowed in the essay, unless they were in quotes.
When students can step back from their own lives and identify elements of the world around them, they will be able to easily pick and choose what aspects they want to change or keep. This skill goes a long way to help students throughout college and the rest of their lives. With the mentality that change can come from a simple flick of the wrist and raw determination, students At U of O will go on to change the world. From the campus in Eugene, students will disperse across the world and become doctors who create cures for cancer, Supreme Court justices that diminish the pay gap, or Peace Corps officers the effects change in developing countries. I remembered it like it was yesterday, the sweat, the thoughts and the fear in my eyes of me knowing that I was about to get on that rollercoaster. I've done a whole lot in my life, I've been on a boat, I've toughed numerous types of animals I also rode rollercoasters before but there was something about this one. it terrified me it was the biggest one I have ever seen, the biggest of them all. its name was the hulk. the hulk surrounded the whole amusement park it was green just like the hulk and had a drop like no other.
Everybody knows that there are four seasons, and everyone has their favorite one out of all of them. Mine is when the woods turns into a coloring book of orange and red, when I put a nice warm batch of hot co-co on the stove, and were all of my family comes together every year. My favorite season is fall. My favorite hobby is hunting.
I am delighted I have been able to be part of the Early Decision 2 pool as Fairfield University is the only college I want to attend. Ms. Stanton had said you are interested in the particulars of what about Fairfield appeals to me such that I know my former statement to be true. After a number of campus visits, countless hours spent on the website thoroughly reviewing Fairfield’s majors, minors, clubs and roster of programs, I feel familiar with the advantages of the plethora of learning and experiential avenues being a member of Dolan School of Business’ impressive Marketing major focused on product design and management with an Entrepreneurship minor offers me as an underclassman.
In order to fulfill my dream, there are several steps I have to take. The first step in the line of many is to get into a top-ranked school, and Michigan fits the profile perfectly. Though the drive is a little long from my town, University of Michigan is worth it. It’s not just the fact that U of M is in the top 5 public universities in the U.S. that draws me to this school. With over
Patelle Fong 11R04S Mentor Application 1. Why do you want to be a mentor and what would the role involve? I think that being a mentor would be benefitting to me because I would like to help more people, and I want to help others because I can sometimes tell whether or not another person is upset or feeling a certain way, even though I never asked them what was happening because I did not have the confidence to. I think that being a mentor would help me gain more confidence in myself to help others who may be needing help, as it is important that everyone at school should be able to feel safe here, not secluded but like they belong in the KGV community, as well as develop my own communication skills.
As time passed, I seemed caught in a rigid routine. When I woke, my crazies made it hard to shower. During the day, I worked as an accountant for two small businesses in town. After work I came home, got high, and sat alone in my house. At night I watched Johnny Carson, and on the weekends, I visited my Aunt Claudia.
