As the advisory ends, this assignment provides an excellent opportunity to look back on my experiences in this class. Throughout this past advisory in the Advanced Placement Language and Composition Course, I have grown not only as a writer but also as an individual. I truly appreciate the growth that I have gone through in this class. It is difficult to put into words how much I have grown but I try to do so throughout this reflection. This is because I could conquer my weaknesses and utilize my strengths with the help of my teacher and classmates. Through multiple peer edits, I was shown that my weakness as a writer was that I lacked voice in my essays, and my strengths were that I could structure an essay. My structure was concise and easy to follow; my voice on the other hand was dull and flat. With the help of my teacher, I could bring forth the voice that was hidden inside me and use it to produce amazing essays. However, I have obtained new strengths and weaknesses throughout the year and end the course with the fact that I am a great writer, but I have a tendency produce “wordy” essays filled with “fluff words”. Since the topic was something I was interested in, I actually wanted to write. I had my topic but I knew that more challenges were ahead. The challenges were difficult, but they proved to be beneficial to my development. I chose to write the essay from an objective, unbiased viewpoint, which I soon realized that it wasn’t easy for me to write that way. I found it difficult to write in the third-person, and my progress on the essay was slowed, as a result. I struggled with the issue, but the greatest challenge I had with the essay was something that I became aware of after the first essay: my difficulty writing strong paragraphs. I tried my best to enhance the strength of my paragraphs. Luckily, the class possessed a wealth of resources on the subject of paragraphs, and I enveloped myself completely in the material.
