Reflective Statement

The structure of the assignment has compelled me to gain deeper level of understanding on writing a précis, and consequently avoid plagiarism. Despite not having any experience of précis an article, the level of difficulty was fairly minimum. I was given clear instruction on the Moodle website including lectures on the steps I needed to undertake to achieve the aims of the assignment. Although, in some occasions, it has been challenging. I maintained a journal to set tasks using lists as I deeply felt it was important to prioritize tasks although I thought we were given fair amount of time to complete the assignment. I started out by reading all of the articles in day one. I re-read the article I choose multiple times in order to ensure I understood it completely then I highlighted the key points on day two. I noted the key points on a separate document and modified the key points in my own words to avoid plagiarisms on day three. The experience has given me a great confidence and skills in terms of avoiding plagiarism. I was given an opportunity to submit my work on a website to check for plagiarisms in which I received an overall score of 0% as there were no matching sources for the report. Therefore, I learnt, paraphrasing, quoting the sources, dividing sources and your sources is an essential approach in avoiding plagiarism as all of these techniques were used whilst writing my précis. Nevertheless, aside from strengths, there were also some challenges. In the article, I came across several terminologies I was not familiar with. I met the challenge by using search engine to understand the meaning of those terms. I felt it was important to understand the meaning of those terms for me to be able to write a
