Relational Analysis Essay

455 Words2 Pages

Technology has become a staple in today’s world and the purpose of my study is to determine if there is a link between learning incapacities and technology. After I have collected the completed questionnaires distributed in my local schools, I feel correlational analysis would be best as I am trying to prove the relationship between technology at an early age and the possibilities of learning deficits created from it (Newman, 2011). My hypothesis claims I can predict if a student will develop learning differences by knowing how often they utilized electronic devices in their early years. What extent can predict learning deficits based on using the amount of time technology is used in early childhood? Correlation gives an assessment of the …show more content…

This also helps me make sure that there is a linear relationship between the two because the math is based on how well the data point fit a line so nonlinear relationships are not overlooked (Aggarwal & Ranganathan, 2016). Once my data looks linear I can calculate it by using Excel. My correlation coefficient will range from -1 to +1 and will tell me if the size of the relationship of the two is based on absolute value as well as the direction of the relationship. If the coefficient if from zero in either direction, then I will know that there is a stronger relationship between learning deficiencies and early childhood technology. If one increases as the other increases, there is a positive correlation and if one increases while the other decreases, there is a negative correlation. Because correlation requires variables to be quantitative, it is measured on an interval scale, this considered nominal as it is identifying a particular characteristic. I will then return to my hypothesis: Do children exposed to technology on a regular basis in early childhood (birth to 3) have a stronger chance of developing learning weaknesses in school? If my data has a positive correlation, then I will have proved my hypothesis to be
