Malcolm X and his relationship with Elijah Muhammad
In this paper we will analyse the relationship between Malcolm X and Muhammad. Beginning with the induction of Malcolm Little into the religion of Islam and his affiliation with the Nation of Islam and Elijah Muhammad. With this analysis we will be able to learn more about what led to the growth and development of a seemingly father - son relationship. I will show how Elijah Muhammad and the teachings of Islam in many ways saved Malcolm from continuing to follow the life of a criminal on the streets of Boston, Harlem and Detroit. Malcolm really brought a resurgence to the Nation of Islam in both positive and negative ways. He was able to do this with his personality politics which in the 50’s and 60’s was one of the most effective ways to earn the support of young and old African Americans during the black civil rights movement. Muhammad give a speech. He spoke of the hardships that he had gone through and time that he had served for not registering for the war. He spoke to the followers of the negative effects that the whites had on the development and growth of the negro. The Nation of Islam was here to take all of those hardships away and instead to create a moral uplift among African Americans.
