Reoccurring Elements In Piano Lesson

In the play, Piano Lesson by August Wilson the readers may notice many reoccurring elements throughout the play such as; ghosts and music. These elements represents how the past history on African Americans can still affect the actions of the present. Most of the play revolves around Boy Willie wanting to sell the piano. The climax of the play happens during the exorcism in which Avery, Berniece, and Boy Willie all represent a different element of the exorcism which ends the madness of the haunting of the ghosts.
Towards the final scene of the play, the argument of selling the piano to buy Sutter’s land is still in question for Boy Willie, but Berniece stands her ground from the beginning of not wanting to sell the piano. Wining Boy asks Doaker
