My artistic representation is of the lotus flower. In the Odyssey Odysseus's ship sailed off course onto the island of the lotus eaters. The people on the island worship the lotus as if it were another greek god, which is why they feed people the flowers. They had been blown off course many times because Poseidon cursed him to never go home. While on the island Odysseus’s men ate the lotus flower and got caught under its spell. The lotus flower puts you under a spell to control your thoughts. The beauty and taste of the flower pull in people to eat it, but once it's been eaten you never want to leave.
