Amelia Earhart was a great American pilot. She set many records as a young female pilot. She was the first female pilot to fly across the United States. She has been through many ups and downs with her flying career, but she always found a way out of them. Amelia was a very daring pilot, all the way up until her last flight. Amelia Earhart was a fantastic flyer in the 1920s by becoming a pilot at a young age, setting new records and becoming a sensation, and attempting to fly around the world.

Amelia Earhart became a pilot at a very young age, she knew she wanted to fly ever since the day she stepped onto the airfield. Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24th, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas to Edwin and Amy Earhart. In 1918, at the age of twenty, she volunteered as a nurse's aide at a local military hospital. She visited a local airfield and automatically knew she wanted to fly. Amelia hired Neta Snook to teach her how to fly. Neta was the first woman to graduate from the Curtiss School of Aviation. The test plane was flown on July 22, 1936. The plane was a present for Amelia’s thirty-ninth birthday. She left San Francisco in March. She set a new record for a 16-hour flight to Hawaii. As she was leaving Hawaii, the plane crashed during take-off. It took five weeks to repair. She took off from Miami, Florida, and headed for Brazil, Pakistan, Calcutta, and Bermuda. They reached Lae in June. The next part was the most dangerous leg of the flight; they had to land on an island that was only 2.5 miles long, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Amelia never reached that island. No one knows what happened to them. Amelia was a very big inspiration to young women in our world. Her story shows that we need to be confident and aware of the hazards, accept the risks, and do what makes us happy
