Duke Ellington had a successful career and musicians and jazz fans all around the world. Whenever musicians young or old bring up jazz music in a discussion, jazz fan or classicist in any part of the world the name Duke Ellington is mentioned. Starting young after maturing he had a lot of memorable events throughout his life. Duke Ellington had a big impact on music during his time. He is considered by many to be the most brilliant Jazz composers in American history.
Ellington began performing at the age of 17 then later progressed into preforming for nightclubs in Broadway. Starting out at such a young age Ellington was able to support his love for jazz by hanging out with music students who attended Howard University, and advance music in America early on. Ellington did not only compose music for his bands. He was involved with projects for films, musical comedies, stage productions, and symphony orchestras. One composer that I believed deserves to be recognized as one of the greatest musician of the 17th and 18th century is Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was a 17th century composer who’s become one of the most well know musician and the renowned figures of European classical music. I favor Vivaldi as musician not only for his musical talents but also, his background life story that lead to him being one of the greatest composers of the world. Antonio Vivaldi was born in 1678 in Venice, Italy. His father Giovanni Battista, a local violinist taught Vivaldi how to play the instrument.

Most likely, the person is or was a politician, businessman, writer, etc. You most likely did not think of a musician. We, as a society, under appreciate the work of great musicians of our time as well as past times. For example, William Byrd was an extremely influential musician who lived from 1538-1623.

He also transformed the Classical and Romantic periods of western music. His personal life was a struggle though as the years went on because of his increasing deafness. As said earlier, his personal life was a struggle because of him slowly going deaf, but that is not all he struggled with.

He was born into a middle-class family which allowed him to be able to have the ability to have access to music at an early age. His mother was a key figure in his life when it came to music. She encouraged him to seek out a musical instrument when he was young. He started playing the piano very early in life, around the age of six, and it soon became clear to his family that he had a natural talent for it. He went on to study the piano and take piano lessons, per his family’s suggestion, soon after his talent was discovered.
Music Appreciation Essay Music today is something we can easily take for granted. Through class I have learned several important influences in music. The most significant composer in my opinion was Ludwig van Beethoven. I feel his works broadened music and took it to a whole new level.
Beethoven showed his musical talents at his young age. In 1792 he moved to Vienna and spent rest of his live there. He studied with Haydn and soon he gained his reputation as a virtuoso pianist that often showing his ability of improvisation during performance. Beethoven’s career as a composer can be categorized into three periods: (1) the peak of Classical period where most of his works shown influences of his teacher Joseph Haydn, as well as influences from other great musicians of all time such as Mozart.
