One composer that I believed deserves to be recognized as one of the greatest musician of the 17th and 18th century is Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was a 17th century composer who’s become one of the most well know musician and the renowned figures of European classical music. I favor Vivaldi as musician not only for his musical talents but also, his background life story that lead to him being one of the greatest composers of the world. Antonio Vivaldi was born in 1678 in Venice, Italy. His father Giovanni Battista, a local violinist taught Vivaldi how to play the instrument. Although, Vivaldi was well knowledgeable of how to play the violin due to health issues of chronic short breath Vivaldi was not able to master the instrument. As his health issues get worse Vivaldi was unable to delivered mass and his health drove him to abandon his career as priest shortly after his ordination. At the age of 25, Vivaldi was named master of violinist at at the Ospedale della Pietà, a Catholic hospital in Venice. Antonio Vivaldi went to composed most of his famous work at the local hospital. Briefly, after being promoted as a musical director of the Catholic hospital orchestra, Vivaldi began to write operas. His musical recognition lead to him accepting several short-term job in Mantua and Rome. It was within that era in Mantua that Vivaldi wrote his most famous four part masterpiece, the four seasons. Vivaldi wrote most of his music during his time as the orphanage hospital including, La constanza trionfante and Farnace.
