Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21st, 1899, in Oak Park Illinois. Throughout his childhood, he wrote the school newspaper and began to take interest in writing. Right after graduation, Hemingway served in the Italian army as an ambulance driver. While in the military, Hemingway moved all over the world serving when he met his future wife. Once out of the service, he married Hadley Richardson and moved to paris. In Paris, Hemingway became part of “The Lost Generation”, a group of authors looking to make something out of their work. Hemingway is widely known as a famous author of many top selling books.

Ernest Hemingway used his personal experiences to create his most popular books written. The Sun Also Rises was Hemingway's first written novel reflecting his traditional midwestern values in post WW1 while in Europe. Hemingway used people he knew in “The Lost Generation” as characters in his book. The book talks about his personal views in a godless world and questions the value of life. While mind lost with the overuse of alcohol, Hemingway writes about himself becoming a hero with honor and courage creating the beginning of the Hemingway
