Johnny Manziel can be considered a tragic hero because he was a well respected athlete that brought his own tragic downfall. Johnny Manziel was a very successful football player for Texas A&M Aggies. Manziel has won many awards and had the role model position for younger football players. All young football players had aspired to be Johnny Manziel. Manziel had the tragic flaw of getting caught up in all the fame. Manziel thought that he was well respected enough and important enough that he could get away with anything. Johnny Manziel grew up playing many sports. He was very involved in football, basketball, baseball, and golf. Manziel attended Tivy High School, while there he was a very successful quarterback. Johnny Manziel was recognized for his great accomplishments as the quarterback. In 2011, Manziel was named the Parade all-American. With this he was later then names the National High School Senior Athlete of the Year. He was nominated this by the National High School

Johnny Manziel began getting recruited by Texas A&M, Baylor, Iowa State, Oregon, Rice, and Stanford. Johnny Manziel took the offer from Texas A&M on a full ride scholarship. Manziel played with the Aggies for two years it was the 2012 and 2013 seasons. During his freshman year, he led the Auggies to a 10-2 regular season record. During this season, Manziel became the first freshman to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards. Although Manziel was very successful on the field he stayed humble. He told the media, “I don’t see myself as Johnny Football, I see myself as Jonathan Manziel, a small town guy from Kerrville who is extremely fortunate and extremely blessed to be able to play football at A&M.” Manziel did not let all of his successes make his head too big.
