In Steubenville, Ohio, a sixteen-year-old girl was attending a local high school party with her friends. The girl was more intoxicated than others and refused to go home after the party was shut down. She then joined a group of guys who were going to another party and when they get there, the girl was too drunk to remember anything else. Two of the boys that were with her were Trent Mays and Malik Richmond. Both of them were football players at Steubenville High School, which was a big deal in small town Steubenville.
Modern Day Muckraking “In 1979, Goldschmidt, who as mayor had won national renown for the development of the downtown bus mall and the city 's then-revolutionary light rail, was tapped by President Jimmy Carter to be Secretary of Transportation” (Jaquiss). Neil Goldschmidt was a very successful politician, but he was hiding a very dark secret that the people of Oregon deserved to know. Should the type of person, who raped a 14 year old girl for three years, be considered someone that the people of Oregon look up to? This is just one of the questions Nigel Jaquiss addressed in his article about the affair between Neil Goldschmidt and a 14 year old girl that occurred from 1975-1978 (Jaquiss).

The Freeh report showed several officials of the university knew about the allegations of Sandusky’s behavior as early as 1998. The report indicated president Spanier, vice president Schultz, athletic director Curley and head football coach Paterno knew of Sandusky’s actions and failed to report them to the proper authorities. Even though Paterno reported the allegations to the president, Paterno failed to move past the president and report to the Pennsylvania police or the Board of Trustees. Freeh declared most senior leaders at Penn State showed a disregard for the welfare of Sandusky’s child victims for at least 14 years empowered Jerry Sandusky to continue his sexual child abuse (Gessler,
Jerry Sandusky is a sexual predator that used his influence in the community of State College to protect himself as he sexually assaulted ten boys over fifteen years(O'Neill, 2012). Most of the new information revealed is about the case as it went through the different stages of the criminal trial. The trial took place at the Centre County Courthouse and is seen as a necessary part of healing and moving forward for the victims of the sexual predator(O'Neill, 2012). Sandusky was successful at manipulating his victims, friends, and the circumstances which allowed him to take advantage of troubled youth that were partaking in programs offered by the The Second Mile(O'Neill, 2012). Sandusky met most of his victims through The Second Mile nonprofit organization and was able to manipulate time with his victims while appearing to be a father figure to disadvantaged children(Hobson & Boren, 2016).Throughout all of my research it amazes me how bold Jerry Sandusky became with his victims and coworkers while plotting his attack on his victims.
Key Facts and Issues In 1967, Jerry Sandusky was hired as the assistant coach under Joe Paterno at Pennsylvania State University. Throughout his career Jerry Sandusky was, according to Crandall, Parnell, & Spillan, 2014), described as a respected football coach and the founder of a charitable organization, The Second Mile, for disadvantaged youth. “Initially founded by Sandusky in 1977 as a group foster home for troubled boys, but grew into a non-profit organization that helps young people to achieve their potential as individuals and community members” (CNN, 2017). Little did the public know, Sandusky was a child molester, however, he was not undercover to some of the people, as we call them, the big wigs.
It is hard to imagine that someone who had built a reputation for encouraging, assisting, and guiding juveniles could commit such heinous acts. On November 5, 2011, Jerry Sandusky’s life as he knew it would forever change, as he became a part of the judicial system (Bohm & Haley, 2014). On this day, Sandusky was charged and arrested with 40 counts of molesting children. These crimes were committed on eight different boys from 1994 to 2009.
Marty Deeks is a complicated guy filled with contradictions and extremes. We only know the basics of his life before NCIS, but what we know isn’t a fairytale. He had an incredibly difficult childhood filled with trauma. How did that childhood influence the man he grew to become? This question has always intrigued me, so I set out to learn about childhood trauma and its effects on adult survivors.
In 1956, Donald Harvey was molested for the first time and continuously since over the next decade and a half by his mother’s half-brother, Wayne. Harvey was often used “…as an aid for masturbation… (Sellers et al., n.d.)” while at times being made to engage in oral sex. A year later in 1957, at age 5, Harvey’s neighbor, Dan Thomas, began to sexually abuse him as
There is an old saying, “Hear no evil, see no evil” that can be applied in the case of sexually abused people and their own families. On the one hand, victims of sexual abuse are prone to repress their traumatic memories with a view to denying what has happened to them. And on the other hand, the family usually choose to not talk about the incident. This culture of silence and denial around child abuse is clearly shown in the play Perve by Stacy Gregg. Both Gethin and Nick clearly have some secrets about their childhood that are quite painful for them.
At the highest levels of governments around the world the pedophile culture receives protection and cover. The members of this culture include the rich, high level, famous, and influential people. The pedophile culture is embedded in justice systems around the world where the perpetrators are able to flee prosecution for long periods of time even in the midst of investigations and warrants being issued. Former president of the U.S. George H. W. Bush allegedly hosted gatherings of congress persons and senators for the purpose of engaging in acts of pedophilia. In the case involving Bush, witnesses report that he was involved in the "Franklin Savings and Loan case" during the 1980's involving Larry King.

Introduction This guide is intended to be a brief primer for professionals working in the criminal justice field or as treatment providers with victims of sexual abuse within Hasidic and Haredi (orthodox and ultra-orthodox), Jewish communities.
