NIkola Tesla
Nikola Tesla’s invention is used every day by many people. What is it one might ask? AC or alternating current, it is the way that energy moves.
Tesla was born on July 10,1856 in Smiljan, Croatia. When he was seven years old, his older brother died. this traumatic event set off a mental illness that he would die with(history.com,2014). He later moved to United States of America in 1884.
Tesla had mainly one person who challenged him to reach his limits. This person was Thomas Alva Edison. Tesla’s first job in america was with Edison in New York . Tesla went to Edison’s office in New York and said he wanted a job as an inventor. Edison protested that he had enough inventors and that he did not need another one, it was then that he saw one of Tesla’s inventions Edison having seen Tesla’s genius, Edison hired him.

Edison said he would pay Tesla $50,000 if he could make major improvements to Direct Current (DC) which was the standard of electricity in the late 1800’s. Tesla got right to work he worked every day from 10:00Am to 5:00Am for an entire year. Finally after working so hard for so long Tesla presented his creation to Edison expecting his $50,000. Then to Tesla’s surprise Edison refused to give him the money then laughed at Tesla and said, ”Tesla, you just don’t get American humor.” Tesla immediately quit working for Edison.
