Augustine, or Saint Augustine of Hippo, is a very well known theologist and philosopher of the late Roman period. His contribution to the Christian ideology is notably related the the Holy Trinity. When it was established, there was disagreement on which leg of the Trinity was the most critical, a conflict between the Father and the Son. Augustine declared that each leg was dependant on the other, with God being the ultimate result. His argument is based on the tripart nature of God as seen when exploring the concept of love, which can only exist when there is a lover, a loved, and the action of love.
