Lord Teach Me to Pray #6 Kingdom-Focused Prayer Text-Micah 4:1-5 Introduction-: In Philip Yancey’s book The Jesus I Never Knew he talks about how we live on Saturday, the day with no name: The other two days have earned names on the church calendar: Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Yet in a real sense we live on Saturday, the day with no name. What the disciples experienced in small scale—three days in grief over one man who had died on a cross—we now live through on cosmic scale.

One of the most important characters in the entire Bible and narrative of Jesus was John the Baptist. John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus, and he was born to pave the way for Jesus's coming. John was prophesied in Luke chapter 1. An angel appeared to John's father, Zachariah, and the angel told him that John will prepare the people's hearts to turn to Jesus when he came. John the Baptist was highly favored with God before he was born.
The Case for Christ was written by Lee Strobel and published in 1998. The book follows Lee Strobel’s almost two year long journey of finding out the truth of Christ and Christianity. Strobel uses his investigative and crime reporter background to lay down the foundation of how a case is handled in court and builds upon that foundation with historical evidence and thirteen interviews with qualified experts. Strobel uses the information as if presenting it before a jury and judge in court and the evidence is laid out in such a way allowing the reader to come to come to their own conclusion to his case and research. The book is a very eye-opening experience to Christians and non-Christians alike because of all Strobel put into this book Lee
The Dead Sea Transform Fault runs near the east shore of the Sea of Galilee. The Golan Heights area is moving northward, with respect to the Sea, at about one inch per five years. It is not a steady movement. The strain builds up over many decades before it is finally released, sending tremors through nearby land and water. The disturbance in the water begins suddenly, continues for a few minutes, and then dies down.
Every time I walk along the beach at Surfers Paradise I cannot help but think about the hugeness of God. I walk along the soft, golden sand, and thank my Maker that I was born but an hour away from this slice of heaven. I feel the cool breeze in my hair, and am reminded of the gentle whisper of God’s voice as we travel the journey of life together. And as I look over the mass of ocean, I wonder why a God so great cares for me? December 27, 2001, found me walking along the beach one perfect Queensland afternoon.
Jesus Christ’s life and teachings are the guide to peace in this life and joy in eternity. The gospel of Jesus Christ blesses all who accept and live it. God reveals his gospel through the use of prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ states, “Prophets teach us about God and are special witnesses of Jesus Christ, receive revelation or direction from the Lord, and teach the gospel to the world and interpret the word of God (4).” Prophets receive the priesthood and act in the name of God to lead his children.
The Bible is God’s word. It proclaims his instructions and views on all things present in life. One entity exceedingly present in life is political institutions (government). In 1 Corinthians 14:40 it is proclaimed, “For all things should be done decently and in order.” We as Christians should, under this circumstance, maintain order throughout our lives.
“The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that you may have life, and life to the full,” John 10:10. Although, this verse is found in the New Testament, in my personal opinion is a winning celebration after a long, hard game, and a reminder of the past, but to continue to move forward in the future. Verses like John 10:10, and the well quoted John 3:16, are the reason why we can look back through the first few chapters of the Old Testament, and not get hung up on the troubling times, because a savior came, to be the awaited plot twist. I have heard many sermons that talk about the fall of man that is found in Genesis 3, but one sermon I in particular answered the question of why does this happen. The pastor spent time on one
Introduction For this pastoral interview, I interviewed Andrew O’Brien. He has been serving as the missions pastor for North Ridge Church for two years. O’Brien lives in Falls City, Nebraska with his wife, Emily, and two young sons. Being a child of missionaries in Mexico, he has always had a heart for missions.
Comparisons made between a Gospel and the stylistic writings of the Roman Bios which captures the essential idea of the character and teaching of Jesus in an almost biographical framework. A gospel is not just an interesting story about a great person of the past. Neither is it an academic theological treatise. Date, Authorship and Influence Scholars and theologians widely believe that the Gospel of Matthew dates back to around the early eighties of the first century. Most likely Matthew originated near Syria due to the contention it sought a larger, more urban audience and that after the death of Stephen there was a large influx of Hellenistic Jewish Christians making their way to the areas of Antioch (Mullins 2007, IV).
The role of the Holy Spirit in the Christian life is change. Biblical change that is directed toward doing what is honoring and pleasing to God. In other words, the Holy Spirit’s role is sanctification in the life of a believer. The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to put off the old ways that are displeasing to God by replacing them with new righteous ways (cf. Eph.
One of the most important things that is needed to fully understand this paper is the answer to the question that some people may be asking right now; Who is Jesus? This is crucial point that plays a key role in why Jesus was killed. Finding information about Jesus of Nazareth is actually fairly easy, I mean Christianity, which was founded on the teachings and lessons of Jesus, takes up around a third of the world’s population with its members, but the hard part comes when faced with the question; Is this information accurate? The Christians back then, and still, today believe that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah that God had sent to save them from sin and death. “He walked out of the Judean desert nearly 2,000 years ago, an unknown itinerant preacher,
In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus is presented as the “Christ, the Messiah” (Mk 1:1 NAB). These are the first words of Mark. However, what does this mean? Through the Gospel, Mark wants to answer this question with several facts. The Gospel is divided in two main sections: first, chapter 1 to 8 shows the human part of Jesus and performing several miracles.
My thoughts about religion have changed over the years as it tends to do when you get older. I was indoctrinated into the Catholic Church when I was a child and stayed with the church until early adulthood. I then began reassessing organized religion and found that it was not what I was looking for. Today there is a religious movement that appears to be taking the world by storm and it’s called the prosperity gospel. People today want more wealth, love and better health and they want it now.
