Theorists such as Schaffer & Emerson (1964) argued that toddlers around 18 months are attached to more than one person whereas Bowlby’s theory suggests that 18 month old toddlers are attached to one person. This suggestion contradicts Bowlby’s theory. Schaffer & Emerson suggested that 18 month old toddlers may be attached to 5 or more people. (simplypsychology.org) Another theorist who disagreed with Bowlby’s theory is Rutter (1972) who argued that several attachment indicators that the child is attached to a person may be shown to more than one person such as the child’s father or the child’s siblings or even inanimate objects.
Children are often underestimated in their skills and level of understanding.

Alison Gopnik states that children understand the adults needs and try to respond of a different way, many time adults don’t understand what children want to say. After I start to work with young children I realize that they understand more than adults believe because children express different emotions verbal and no verbal when their teacher o parents show different emotions. I remember that one day I was worried because my daughter was sick at home, the day the children were more affective with me and gave me kisses and hugs. I never said anything to them, but I think they could recognize my worried and tried to make me feel better.

Understanding the needs of child development is fundamental in creating spaces and activities that provide children with opportunities to develop and advance at every age. Children are just as much affected by the physical setting as adults are. The essential role of the setting is understood by the kids only through positive and resourceful interactions with the surroundings. It is known that a spatially well-defined setting can have multi-fold positive effects on the overall results. In recent times, design of such facilities has not been focussed on aiming at an exclusive space that would contribute to the overall development of children.
During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.
As humans, we tend to let our emotions get the best of us sometimes. We are not always aware of the things that are happening in our lives, and it tends to affect us emotionally. The biggest concept is observing how we interact with everyone around us including ourselves. How we are raised in my opinion brings, about how aware we are personally. Self-awareness is the conscious knowledge of one’s own character, feeling, motive, and desires.
A leader will be able to make better decisions and connect with authentic self by getting in touch with their inner voice. This is a description of self-awareness. Self-awareness is all about drawing attention to internal psychological signals monitored by the insula and amygdala as somatic makers messages. Somatic makers tend to guide one’s attention into making a better decision based on a right or wrong feeling. Therefore, self awareness is combining one’s authentic self experience across time with sensory impressions.
Beauty pageants are held in many countries around the world, where girls go to show off their costumes, talent and of course their beauty. The media has exalted beauty pageants on television with shows like toddlers and tiaras. Children should not be in an environment that affect them negatively at a young age. Some people might think that these pageants develop a child’s confidence; however, everything has a positive and a negative impact, which in this case the negative wins! A girl at the age of 6 maybe 8 that should be spending time in playing with her friends, getting dirt and sand all over herself, is spending time in salons!
Evolve into Having Self-Awareness Being self-aware simply means that you have a keen understanding of your own personality. That includes your positive and negative traits, your thoughts and beliefs, your feelings, and your inspiration. It would be easier for you to understand others when you are self-aware. You will also be able to tell how they see you in return. Most people believe that they have a good sense of self-awareness, but it would be best to check at a comparative scale to see where you fall on it in contrast with others.
Self is the ability to know right from wrong, understanding the society norms, behaviors, culture, and values. An example of this is learning and talking the native language, know how to eat from a spoon, and able to communicate with other people. If people or myself fail to experience socialization, they will not possess the acquired skills needed to develop self. This process is required for me to be apart and successful fit in the society.
