In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the ending of the novel was ineffective on answering the many questions that plagued the readers’ minds such as, “What happened after their rescue, and were any of the children tried for murder?”. Not being told anything of the children's rescue or lives later in the years is quite frustrating to the readers who yearn for more understanding of the characters. We are also given no insight to the children's lives before they became stranded on the remote island. Simon’s death was brutal, yet the readers are told little to no detail about the consequences that the boys will be given when they arrive home.
