I picked the novel, Go Ask Alice, on the basis that I have always been fascinated with the 60s and 70s, and thought it would be interesting to compare teens from that generation to our present generations. The book is a fictional, diary of a 15 year old girl not only struggling with addiction but normal teen issues as well, such as her identity, self esteem, and peer pressure. The book encompasses the roller coaster of emotions and life events a teen girl experiences in just over a year. The book far exceeded my expectations in the way that it’s teenage events and feelings were still very relevant today. Even though I have never personally struggled through addiction, it gave me a better understanding of how easily it can be to fall prey
