Ed Hess "Coming technology will likely destroy millions of jobs. Is trump ready?" first appeared in Oxford, England, on January 17. In Hess's essay he try's argue that many people are going to lose their jobs due to technology taking them over. The people who lose their jobs will not be able to make an income to provide for their family. "Hess uses Standout sentences, cause and effect, and emotional appeals to create a strong essay.
Hess begins his essay describing a standout sentence because Hess uses "tsunami" to catch the readers attention. "technology tsunami that will hit over the next 5 to 15 years and most likely destroy tens of millions of jobs due to automation by artificial intelligence, 3D manufacturing, advanced robotics and driverless vehicles among other emerging technologies." 47 percent of all u.s. jobs are going to be replaced by technology. "The issues of technology taking over jobs should be front in center on the presidents agenda. planning how our country will adapt to the coming technology tsunami must start now." …show more content…

Examples throughout the essay shows that technology will take over peoples jobs, then the people will lose their jobs. "Techno-optimists tell people to relax- don’t worry, technology will produce lots of new jobs just like it did during the industrial revolution", the first human disruption caused by the industrial revolution in Britain lasted 60 to 90 years, depending on the historical research. Hess said "that was a long time for society to "right" itself, and lot of personal pain." Humans will be needed to perform tasks that require higher order critical thinking, innovation, creativity, high emotional engagement with other humans and trade skills requiring real-time problem- solving and manual dexterity. Humans will need to excel at doing those things that are, for now, uniquely human. Good will no longer be good
