Can point of view change how you develop a character? By using first person point of view, the authors of The Georges and the Jewels and Black Beauty: The Autobiography of a Horse quite effectively develop each character. For example, if the reader did not know that the bit tasted bad and the straps were uncomfortable, he/she may assume that the bit was made for a custom fit for the horse and the mouthpiece tasted like strawberries. First, in The Georges and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, a girl’s father has her ride and train horses even though she think the horses have feelings and don't like the gear and the training. Throughout the novels Indian Horse written by Richard Wagamese and Merchant of Venice written by Shakespeare, being regarded as the enemy of society, having a fear for the events that will come and the quest for an individual or power to gain power and control are apparent and occurring themes that affect characters differently. In both novels individuals are considered to be an enemy of society based on discrimination rather than being an actual threat to society. “When your innocence is stripped from you, when your people are denigrated, when the family you came from is denounced and your tribal ways and rituals are pronounced backward, primitive, savage, you come to see yourself as less than human. That is hell on earth, that sense of unworthiness.
Of Course the horse just landed on its feet like they do and through itself across the river with a
What some people do not understand that these horses are loved so much. It doesn’t matter whether it is a barrel horse of rope horse. After they work, we pet them, give them treats, let them relax, and sometimes they get a massage or ice on their legs. Source A, “The Sport - the Life- of Rodeo” says, “Just like in basketball, there is a team. My team consists of my horses, my parents and everyone who helps me keep my horses working, including my vet ad my farrier, who shoes the horses,” (Pallesen).
This state of detachment allows master archers to focus on the practice instead of the result desired. However, detachment does not only come from outside influences; the detachment of the self is also necessary to master the art of Japanese archery. Herrigel’s (1953) example of this is how a master only mentions to a pupil that “…all right doing is accomplished only in a state of true selflessness” (p. 29). Detaching the self from the body allows the “spirit” to control all three elements: body, bow, and arrow, forming a single cohesive entity that accomplishes the “ritual” of shooting the

For my out-of-class experience, I chose to learn how to train a horse. I took the time out of a Saturday with a friend in College Station that trains horses, to learn how to train a horse and ended up learning a lot about horses in general, horse training, and myself. During my session, I learned that you must be firm, but fair. Teaching in pain and fear is not beneficial for the horse, nor the trainer. The goal in horse training is to make the horse want what the trainer wants so that both can enjoy a mutually symbiotic and professional relationship.

Above all, playing sports shows us an important truth that life is always in motion. This famous notion was first brought up by a French thinker named Voltaire. Such an idea is simple in words but deep in meaning. Women and Men compete together in Olympic Equestrian events The change and development in women’s sports has significantly changed throughout the years. As many of us know, women have fought for their right to participate in sports, they have fought for their right to work, they have fought for their right to vote, and they continue fighting for the same pay equity as men. This all comes back to when it all started. When women had just started to demonstrate an interest in sports, which leads me to a historical event that changed everything not only for women, but for men as well. In 1952, an event that changed many peoples’ lives occurred.
D.H Lawrence, the author of “The Horse Dealer’s Daughter”, was married to a German wife during World War 1. He described his years living in England as “Miserable… because his wife was of German origin, and oppressed by disgust at what was happening to his country,” (Bausch 453). Lawrence’s wife making him feel oppressed caused him to write about women in a negative connotation. In “The Horse Dealer’s Daughter” Lawrence writes about three brothers and a sister that were left in debt after the passing of their father. The daughter, Mabel, was expected to go live with her married sister.
