During his speech, President Trump touches on several important campaign points. Through these points, he speaks at lengths about the restoration and rebuilding of government, and of the reputation of America. He begins by stating “together, we will lead our party back to the White House, and we will lead our country back to safety, prosperity, and peace” (). He goes on to stress the importance of restoring transparency in government. He states that he will “will present the facts plainly and honestly. We cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore” (). Trump reiterates this statement through citing statistics that support his anticipated action to overhaul our law enforcement spending, poverty levels and the national debt. Stating he “will outline reforms to add millions of new jobs and trillions in new wealth that can be used to rebuild America” (). This ideology of returning greatness to what some have deemed ruined by past leadership, aligns with the overall theme of restoring America’s reputation among global powers. Trump declares that he “will make America subject to the rulings of foreign governments. I pledge to never sign any trade agreement that hurts our workers, or that diminishes our freedom and independence” (). Again, promising to rebuild and restore these aspects of American life. Although there are other controversial topics that could be discussed with regards to Presidents Trumps speech, it must be reiterated that this ideology of restoration has been able to connect to a large voter
