Overall, throughout his speech, Trump was greeted with generous applause from the Republicans and minimal applause from the Democrats. There were however some issues to which both parties agreed and applauded too. The Democrats also booed Trumps at times, such as when he spoke on immigration. The Democrats and the Republicans both applauded when Trump spoke about building their pipelines with American steel, children breaking our cycle of poverty, his backing off the police, his goals to defeat ISIS, and several of his stories, that included an African Women being the first to graduate from college and someone who survived a disease. Moreover, I also thought he had a good moment when he spoke about ending lobbying and therefore in our government. However, Trump’s worst moment was when he spoke about his plan to start a new program called VOICE, Victims of Immigrant Crime Engagement. This program seemed eerily similar to plans held by prior dictators in our world, and looked to target immigrants. Essentially, this program would release lists of immigrants who committed crimes.
