Humanities Draft Introduction: Richard 1st was one of the many monarchs of medieval Europe. He earned his name Richard the Lionheart during the third crusade where he fought Saladin to conquer Jerusalim. He was liked by his country because he fought in many battles for them. Body 1: Who, When: Firstly, Richard, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, was born on the 8th of September 1157 in Oxford. He reigned in Britain for 10 years between 1188 and 1198 and fought in 4 battles during that time. Although he was Henry II’s third child, he was still his mother’s favourite.
