Richard Kuklinski Richard Kuklinski, became known as “Iceman” because he sometimes froze corpse to disguise the time of death. He was very different from other serial killers he was more of a hitman. A hitman is hired by someone to kill that persons rivals or one who once troubled them. Serial killers usually kill for their own good not for someone else. Serial killers also select their victims whereas a hitman's targets are chosen for them and get paid to kill on demand. The motive behind both are very different as well, serial killers are driven to murder by fantasy and powerful emotional needs such as lust or excitement. In Richards earlier years he had a rough upbringing life dealing with his parents abusing him. His mother was very religious and abused him. She often would use a broom stick. He would call her “cancer” because she would get abused by her husband then turn around and beat Richard. Richards father Stanley , who worked on railroad, was an abusive alcoholic who would beat all of his kids regularly. Richard had a brother, Florian, who was killed at the age of 10 from being abused by the father. She said he was was such a gentleman and he would take her on dates and show up to her house with flowers. Then one day when she told him that she needed space because she only saw him he pulled a knife out on her saying she can’t leave him.She stayed with him and Kuklinski abused her throughout their relationship and later on their marriage. Soon they had 3 kids and Kuklinski later turned the abuse on them to. He realized that his job didn’t pay enough for him provide for his wife and children so he became a hitman.
