Jeffrey Dahmer was a normal looking man on the outside, but on the inside he was hiding secrets that everyone would eventually discover. “As a child Dahmer had a weird interest in dead animals. In the basement of his childhood home, Dahmer would bring road-kill inside and dissect them then he would dissolve the road-kill with chemicals. It was only until he graduated that he started bringing people home instead of road-kill.” (Punishment) Dahmer’s dad, a chemist, helped teach him how to bleach and preserve the animal bones, which later helped him preserve his victims. “Dahmer would hangout in gay bars, and find willing companions to take home. He was only 14 when he was running for his life. Dahmer had drugged him, but when he left his apartment Konerak managed escape using all of the strength he had left in him to get away. He finally got out of the apartment and was running naked to escape from Dahmer. Cops found him, and then Dahmer appeared at the scene saying they were lovers and that the boy was drunk. He also told the cops Konerak was 19 when he was only 14. The cops then released Konerak to Dahmer not thinking anything of it. They went and checked out Dahmer’s apartment to make sure the boy was secure. Dahmer made it appear neat and clean, just with a terrible smell that didn’t concern them. The cops left and released Konerak to Dahmer. He then killed the boy, dismembered his body, and cleaned the skull to keep as a trophy. The cops were never concerned on Konerak’s safety.” (Bardsley) The question everyone wanted to know was why the cops didn’t believe that the young boy was actually hurt.
